Job Description:
The primary function of this contract position is to create, implement and manage policy and procedure administration, employee relations, performance management, and special projects as needed.

Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • Undergraduate Degree in HR or a related field (e.g. Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science)
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, formerly known as the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP)
  • Minimum 3 years of HR Generalist experience
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in managing internal and external customers and candidates in a fast-paced environment
  • Productive and efficient in planning and executing work with multiple projects/priorities
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Strong detail orientation, follow up and organizational skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Proficiency in employment laws as well as provincial requirements and regulations
  • Strong working knowledge of legal and environmental trends in HR policies within GTA
  • Bilingual (French) verbal and written skills preferred

Essential Duties:
  • Designs, implements and communicates human resources policies and procedures (i.e. employee handbook, standard operating procedures, best practice templates, and communications from leadership as desired)
  • Interprets policies and procedures in response to inquiries from leaders and employees; determines appropriate applicability in a variety of situations, in accordance with business and provincial regulations
  • Prepares reports in compliance with provincial requirements and Avida needs.
  • Reviews the current performance evaluation process and recommends improvements, ensuring annual reviews are carried out in a timely manner; creates progressive discipline system and templates for use by leaders
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for leaders in handling employee relations issues, including investigation of complaints.
  • Implements and ensures standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and templates are utilized
  • Manage special projects as required to support Avida’s people strategy.
